Starting in July the first task was the removal of 10,000m3 of fly tipped soils, this was undertaken by our company fleet of tippers and disposed of at our in house company operated land fill sites in just 7 days. The demolition of the brick works could then commence. Part of this necessitated the use of a controlled explosive demolition of the forty metre high brick chimney located just 20 metres from the East Grinstead to Oxted railway line. After extensive pre weakening undertaken by our site team the chimney was successfully brought down on Friday 15 October.
Demolition of former Brick works, explosive demolition of chimney, removal of fly tipped materials, construction of piling mats, attendance of ecologists.
