As part of a West Sussex County Council Project, Matthews were involved in earthworks, disposal and providing recycled aggregates for Maidenbower and Thomas Bennett Schools in Crawley.
Matthews provided the management team, labour and heavy plant to carry out the bulk of earthworks at the Maidenbower school. Work included the formation of new roads and car parks as well as the cut and fill of a large area for playing pitches and landscaping.
The contract also included the disposal from both schools of 70,000 m3 of excavated materials and supply 15000 m3 type 2 and 5000m3 type 1 recycled crushed concrete.
Work commenced at Maidenbower school in August 2003 with the opening in September 2004 while the project at Thomas Bennett commenced early 2004 and opened in the Summer of 2005.
